Jackson is the county seat of Butts County, located about 50 miles south of Atlanta along I-75. Population: ~5,000 in the city, ~25,000 in the county. Butts County was founded in 1825 and is one of Georgia's most historically rich counties.
Fun fact: Downtown Jackson was used as the filming location for Hawkins, Indiana in Netflix's Stranger Things. The Butts County Courthouse appears in the show as the Hawkins Public Library.
The Butts County School System serves K-12 students across five schools including Jackson High School (home of the Red Devils). The district has been investing in facilities and expanding programs in recent years.
